Truly "Christianity without the Holy Spirit is Hard work"
You may want to know why i said that. Let's look at the life of Peter. It was Peter's desire to stand with Jesus during his trials. He emphatically told Jesus that "even if i have to die with you, I will never disown you." That was after Jesus had told him, he will disown him three times, but he refused, still standing on that. (Mark 14:27-31)
Peter followed Jesus from a distance when Jesus was taken to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law (Mark 14:53:54). Though He had the will to stand for Jesus but he could not because he was weak - not really filled with the Holy Spirit. He thought he could do it by himself. Even Jesus again noticed that when he returned from praying, he told them "watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Mark 14:38). So you can see, Jesus knew all this and had caution him right from time. Little wonder the scriptures says "it is not by power, nor by might, but by my spirit says the Lord Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)
But now look at the difference when Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit, he was bold enough to stand for Jesus before so many men, that three thousand of them could repent and turn to Jesus (Acts 2:4,14,41) He was also bold enough to confront the Sanhedrin and tell them that he obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29)
Now that he has received the Holy Spirit he said he cannot help speaking about what he has seen and heard (Acts 4:20)
Now i believe you can see what am talking about. "Christianity without the Holy Spirit is hard work".
The difference is obvious.
